Odstock Parish Council

An Extraordinary meeting of Odstock Parish Council was held on 2 April 2008 in The Radnor Hall, Bodenham.

Present: Rod Poynting (Chairman), Colin Berry, Stephen Stapley, David Williamson-Jones, Ray Martin, Nigel Start, Richard Parsons (Clerk), Salisbury District Cllr Bryan Rycroft, Wiltshire County Cllr Julian Johnson and about ninety villagers and members of the public.
Apologies:
Cliff Whitley (Vice-Chairman).

E1/08 Declaration of Interest: None were declared.

E2/08 Local Development Framework (LDF): Salisbury District Cllr Bryan Rycroft explained how the Preferred Options in the Core Strategy would help to define planning policies over the next 20 years. 

E3/08 Draft Strategic Housing Land Availability Assessment (SHLAA): The Agent for the Longford Estate reported that, as part of the LDF consultation, they had taken the opportunity to approached Salisbury District Council to suggest sites that might be suitable for future housing development. In consultation with its advisers, the Longford Estate had identified the site in Nunton where the Farm buildings are currently located and in Odstock, the disused chalkpit off the UC 5192 road.

E4/08 Site No.112 at Nunton Farm: There was unanimous opposition to any development on this site from those present.

E5/08 Site No.111 at Odstock: The objections were mainly related to the increase in traffic on this very narrow road.

E6/08 Conclusion: Villagers were encouraged to respond directly to the SDC planning department and the Chairman undertook to prepare a response on behalf of Odstock Parish Council.
